Loved living here! The location is perfect and you can't beat the price for everything you get. Super clean and quiet - a great place to call home!
Excellent place to live in downtown Milwaukee. The rooms are clean and quiet and there is easy access to the YMCA in the building. Stacy and the rest of the team do a great job and are quick to respond to inquiries and maintenance requests.
It has been my pleasure to live in the Plankinton Lofts from March 2013 to March 2014.
I have briefly detailed a few reasons why I have enjoyed my stay so much.
Apartment and appliances - I greatly enjoyed living in a brand new facility, as well as of the new appliances within my unit. The new dishwasher, refrigerator, stove and two full-size washer and dryer appliances really made the apartment feel like home to me, I must admit, the full-size washer and dryer were my favorite part of the unit, as I did not have to leave my apartment to take of laundry or go into a dark, scary basement to do so.
Staff -The staff of the Plankinton Lofts are second to none! They are extremely responsive, reasonable and flexible. When I had a question regarding my rent or utility payment, they always answered my questions quickly and accurately (even on weekends !). I was extremely happy with the level of service that they provided.
Convenience and location - The convenience of the Plankinton Lofts located right under a YMCA gym is fantastic. Also, my apartment is situated right on Wisconsin Avenue, giving tenants access to surrounding restaurants, shops and nightlife, which all add to the experience.
Overall, I would recommend the Plankinton Lofts to anyone looking for a great downtown apartment complex.
My experience at the Plankinton Loft Apartments has been amazing. I was able to secure an apartment when they were still working on the renovation of the third floor of the Plankinton building. Stacy and the entire team were very accommodating and were able to show me some finished units that were similar to the one I moved into. Stacy kept me updated through the entire process and she made the entire application and move in process very easy. They did an excellent job with the apartments and the staff is very accommodating. I had a small issue with a window screen once. I emailed Stacy and she
emailed me back the same day and was able to get someone to my place the next day to fix it. Other than that, I have not had any maintenance issues with my apartment. The apartments themselves are great. Brand new appliances, good lighting, great bathroom and kitchen, and they are very quiet. The exterior hallway and garbage collection areas are always clean or being cleaned. They do a very good job of taking care of the facilities on the floor that the apartments are on. I cannot say enough good things about the apartments and the staff that runs the floor. I have had a great experience living at the Plankinton Loft Apartments and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an apartment in downtown Milwaukee.
I have spent the last year living at Plankington Lofts and I could not be more happy with my stay. The staff is amazingly helpful, understanding, and pleasant The entire floor is beautiful, all of the guests that I have had think I live in a hotel.
I stay in a two bedroom one bath and it is amazing. All of the fixtures and appliances are brand new and gorgeous. The rooms are large and the layout is amazing. The windows are huge and go all the way up to the ceiling. They must also be very high quality because over the last winter, as mild as it was, we hardly ever needed to turn the heat on resulting in an incredibly low gas bill. All of the tenants are friendly and kind.
As awesome as the apartment is itself the location might even be better. You get a free membership to the YMCA that is just one floor up. The mall is beneath you and despite the fact that Grand Ave is not the best mall and the hours are atrocious, living above a mall is still amazing. The building is connected to the skywalk system that runs through downtown allowing you to be able to get almost all the way to the Bradley Center without stepping foot outside (comes in handy for winter bucks games.) It is in such a central location in downtown that you are able to walk to almost every bar in the area. The Riverside is just across the street along with potbelly, subway, moes pub, and if the YMCA isn't for you the Planet fitness and golds gym are quite close as well.
Compared to other places that I have lived in Milwaukee there is very little disturbance from homeless people and despite the fact that it is smack dab downtown the thick walls make for very little noise from outside. All in all there are no apartments that are as nice and have as good of a location that come anywhere near the price of the Plankington Lofts.
Would recommend 10/10!!
My boyfriend and I have lived in the Plankinton Lofts for almost 3 years now. When we looked at the lofts, they were not yet finished. All of the staff, esp. Stacy and Terry were very accommodating to us. We sold our home in Janesville and had to move quickly, so they let us stay in another loft until ours was done. We were able to use the maintenance cart for moving which was very helpful. Whenever there is something broken, all we need to do is call Stacy and it is fixed promptly. The location is so convenient to all the things that downtown Milwaukee has to offer. The parking is good, at times the garage is a bit crowed, but always able to find a spot. Cars are protected which is nice. The hallways are very clean, Linda is very good and conscientious at that. We have never felt threatened or unsafe there. We like the locked entrances. All in all the Plankinton Lofts are a good place to live, We will stay here as long as we are in Milwaukee.
I just moved into the Plankinton Lofts, and already, it the best place I have lived including the three houses I owned! I'm in the downsizing phase of life unlike most of my neighbors, and the conveniences are on par with or better than the properties I owned. The in-unit washer and dryer, brand-new kitchen appliances, gorgeous bathroom fixtures all make me feel pampered. The location is AMAZING!! Every night I try to take advantage of the river walk or any number of the fabulous dining options in the neighborhood including the new 3rd Street Market. Since I also work in the complex, my commute is ridiculous. The staff has also been wonderful, particularly Makayla. Sure, there are downtown living noises at night, but I like that. What I do not hear - EVER - are my neighbors. If you are thinking about moving here, DO IT!
Stacy was very helpful throughout my time at the lofts. I lived here for about a year and a half until I decided it was time to become a home owner. Any issues I had were promptly handled by Stacy. The location is great as there are many nearby restaurants with shopping only moments away as well.
GREAT team at the Plankinton Lofts. They are responsive, fun, and kind. The space is beautiful!
I lived at the Plankinton Lofts for 6 months and was sad to leave early due to relocation for a job. Management, especially Stacy, made my transition very smooth. Also, Stacy was very helpful during move in, allowing us to use a moving truck last minute for a very reasonable price! Apartments are in great condition. Hallways always were clean and quiet. Great location right above Grand Avenue Mall. Definitely recommend living here for a convenient, downtown apartment with great management!

I lived at the Plankinton Lofts from November 2012 to October 2016. I would recommend Plankinton Lofts to anyone looking for downtown living.
When I moved in, the construction was still on going, as this was a new apartment complex. My roommates and I were one of the first people to live in the building. Each unit has a full size washer and dryer, which is a huge plus for downtown apartments. The refrigerator/freezer has a built in ice and water dispenser, a huge convenience! The apartment was spacious to fit everything we had and could even add more furniture. The living room and each bedroom has a ceiling fan, perfect for those humid summer days.
Whenever we had questions or concerns, it was always easy to get a hold of Stacy at the Sunset Investors office. The office was always quick to respond to emails and phone calls. The times we needed maintenance to fix something, they were able to come within a day. The level of service is second to none.
Parking is simple when living at Plankinton Lofts. Attached to the building is a parking structure run by ImPark. The rate of $120/month is worth every penny when you get to park on the same level your apartment is on. Plus, with the location of the Plankinton Lofts, there were many times I would park my car on Friday and never have to drive on the weekends. Everything downtown is within walking distance.
The downtown YMCA is located on the 4th floor of the building. From our apartment on the 3rd floor, we never heard a peep from upstairs. The best part is, a membership to the Y is included with your lease.
With this location and the caliber of the apartments, I would highly recommend the Plankinton Lofts to anyone looking for downtown apartments..
I have lived in Plankinton lofts for just over a year now and couldn't be happier. When my roommate and I first started apartment hunting in Milwaukee, we were absolutely discouraged by apartments that had either exorbitant rent prices or apartments that were run down and decrepit. There didn't seem to be an in between! Until we found Plankinton!
At Plankinton lofts we were delighted by the modern furnishings and appliances, spacious rooms, and cleanliness of the building. Rent is extremely affordable and heat is included! (Great for Wisconsin winters!) Other benefits include: building landlords that are always friendly and attentive, answering any question or concern we have within 24 hours if not sooner. Plus, the attached parking garage is a wonderful added bonus if you need or want to park a car off the street. Lastly, available storage units allow you to keep bulkier items out of your apartment!
At first we were a bit "put off" by living above the Grand Avenue Mall- but after a year of living here have found the mall to be nothing but an absolute convenience to us! With Walgreens and TJ Maxx in the same building- we never have to go far for emergency purchases. Plus, security only allows tenants up to the third floor, so we always feel secure. Moreover, building security makes us feel safe and at home in our city apartment!
Lastly, location of these apartments is prime. You are right across the street from the Riverside theatre and several riverside bars. Cathedral square is about a 15 minute walk away, and Brady street and Water are just a short uber away.
My roommate and I both feel that Plankinton lofts are the hidden gem apartments of Milwaukee, I would highly recommend these apartments to anyone looking to live in the heart of downtown, without paying condo pricing!
